Anduril Industries

Anduril Industries was founded in 2017 by Palmer Luckey, the Oculus VR creator, along with Trae Stephens, Matt Grimm, Brian Schimpf and Joe Chen, built on a bet that a software first, Silicon Valley style company could out build the traditional prime contractors on autonomous weapons. Nine years later it is one of the most valuable private companies in the country, raising a Series H round in 2026 that pushed its valuation past sixty billion dollars on the back of roughly 2.2 billion dollars in 2025 revenue, nearly double the year before. The company is headquartered in Costa Mesa, California, and employs around 7,000 people. Everything Anduril builds runs on Lattice, its AI powered software platform that fuses sensor data from drones, towers, radar, and other hardware into a single operating picture and can hand off targeting and control decisions with a human still in the loop. That software first approach shows up across a genuinely wide hardware catalog.

In the air, Ghost and Ghost-X are small unmanned helicopters used for reconnaissance and force protection, Altius is a family of tube launched drones, and Anvil is an autonomous interceptor built to physically ram hostile drones out of the sky, with an explosive Anvil-M variant for harder targets. Roadrunner is a twin turbojet, vertical takeoff interceptor that can be recovered and reused if it doesn't need to strike anything, a design meant to make counter drone defense cheaper per engagement. Barracuda is a family of air launched cruise missiles built for mass production rather than exquisite unit cost. Fury, developed through the 2023 purchase of Blue Force Technologies, became the basis for the YFQ-44A, one of two aircraft selected for the Air Force's Collaborative Combat Aircraft program to fly alongside crewed fighters. Underwater, Anduril builds the Dive-LD and Dive-XL autonomous submarines through its 2022 Dive Technologies acquisition, the Copperhead family of uncrewed underwater vehicles, and co-developed Ghost Shark with the Australian government, a large autonomous submarine now in production for the Royal Australian Navy.

On the ground, Sentry towers provide solar powered, autonomous surveillance and have been deployed extensively for US Customs and Border Protection along the southern border, while Menace serves as a deployable command and control node. The company's Adranos acquisition in 2023 added solid rocket motor manufacturing, feeding into the Arsenal program, a bet on hyperscale, largely autonomous factories, with Arsenal-1 under construction near Columbus, Ohio in partnership with Ohio State University. More recent acquisitions, including Numerica for radar and command systems, Klas for tactical communications, and ExoAnalytic for space domain awareness, have pushed Anduril further into radar, comms, and space tracking. The company also took over production of the Army's Integrated Visual Augmentation System from Microsoft in 2025 and works on the Pentagon's broader push toward AI enabled, networked battle management, positioning itself as a manufacturing scale challenger to the traditional prime contractor model.
