Privacy Policy

You can browse Defense.Direct without an account, and we do not collect names, email addresses, or payment information from visitors who simply browse the directory and read our news and analysis. We do not run a checkout or billing system of any kind.

If you create an account, we collect your email address and account type. Suppliers who register as vendors provide the information needed to claim and manage their company listing; buyers who register as enquirers provide the information needed to send requests for quotes. We use this information solely to operate those features — we do not sell it or share it beyond what a feature requires (for example, a request for quote is delivered to the supplier you chose to contact).

We use privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics to understand aggregate traffic patterns, such as which pages are viewed and how visitors generally navigate the site: Vercel Analytics and a self-hosted instance of the open-source Umami platform. Umami runs on infrastructure we operate, and we do not share, sell, or provide that data to third parties. Both tools are cookieless: neither uses cookies, tracks individuals across sites, nor builds a personal profile of you.

Standard web server logs (such as IP address, browser type, and request timestamps) may be recorded temporarily by our hosting infrastructure for security and reliability purposes, as is standard for any website.

Vendor accounts let a supplier claim and manage their company profile in the directory. When you submit a claim, we collect the work email and any verification details you provide so we can confirm you are authorized to represent that company. Enquirer accounts let a buyer send a request for quote (RFQ) to a supplier; the details you include in an RFQ — your contact information and requirements — are delivered to the supplier you address it to.

You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for activity that happens under your account. If you want your account and its data deleted, contact us and we will remove it.

The directory links to the websites of the defense suppliers, integrators, and contractors we list. Those are third-party sites we do not control, and their own privacy policies and tracking practices apply once you leave Defense.Direct. We have no affiliate relationships with the companies we list, and our directory data is drawn from each company's own published information and public records.

We do not use cookies for advertising or cross-site tracking. Both of our analytics tools (Vercel Analytics and self-hosted Umami) are designed to operate without cookies entirely.

If you sign in, we set strictly necessary session cookies to keep you logged in. These exist only to make your account work and are not used for tracking.

This site uses Supabase (self-hosted on our own infrastructure) for backend data storage, including the directory content we publish and, if you create an account, your account details, listing claims, and quote requests.

Emails we send you (account confirmation, listing-claim status, quote-request notifications) are delivered through a transactional email provider, which processes your email address for delivery purposes only.

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

We may update this policy as the site evolves. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date above.
