ideaForge Technology Limited
Surveillance, mapping and logistics drones plus flight and analytics software.
ideaForge Technology began in 2007 as a quadrotor project by three graduates of IIT Bombay, incubated at the institute's Society for Innovation and Entrepreneurship. It is now a listed drone manufacturer headquartered in Navi Mumbai, with shares traded on the National Stock Exchange and the Bombay Stock Exchange since July 2023. The company organises itself around three hardware markets and a software layer that spans all of them. Security and surveillance is the defence-facing half of the business. That line carries the NETRA family, a lineage that goes back to a lightweight quadcopter co-developed with the Research and Development Establishment of DRDO and fielded by Indian police and paramilitary units, and it now runs through the NETRA V4 Pro, a quadcopter rated for more than ninety minutes aloft with a 27x zoom day payload, to the NETRA 5, built for missions where the radio environment is contested. Alongside them sit the SWITCH UAV and SWITCH V2, hybrid vertical take-off aircraft aimed at high-altitude and long-endurance intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance work.
Mapping and surveying is the civil counterpart and rests on the Q series. The Q6 and the Q6 V2 GEO handle photogrammetry and survey-grade corridor mapping for mining, infrastructure and land records, while the smaller RYNO covers micro and nano missions where a survey crew needs something that fits in a backpack. A third line addresses logistics, using heavier lift airframes to move payloads across terrain that road transport handles badly. Payload options run to electro-optical and infrared turrets and LiDAR scanners.
The software side is where the company has pushed hardest since listing. Flyght Cloud, announced in beta in May 2024, is a subscription platform for drone data management and analytics that is deliberately hardware agnostic, so operators flying mixed fleets can still route imagery into one set of industry workflows. BlueFire Live handles encrypted real-time video streaming from an aircraft to remote viewers, which matters for a command post watching a border patrol or a disaster response. Services wrap around all of it. ideaForge sells training toward the remote pilot certificate, provides GIS and image analytics work, and has built a franchise model so entrepreneurs can offer drone services in Indian sectors that will never buy their own fleet. Customers include the Indian Army, central armed police forces, state police and disaster response agencies, along with surveying, mining, energy and agricultural operators. A United States subsidiary markets the same airframes to North American public safety, border patrol and wildfire detection buyers. Payload choices across the fleet run to electro-optical and infrared turrets, high-zoom day cameras and LiDAR scanners. Support contracts and spares are sold as a separate service line, which for a fleet operator flying in Ladakh or the Thar desert is often the deciding factor. The pitch is consistency of supply chain and airworthiness rather than lowest price, which is the axis on which Indian and allied buyers now separate drone vendors.
