Insta Group

Insta is a Finnish family company that has grown every year for fifteen years and still refuses to fit into one industry. It started in Tampere in 1960 installing industrial automation. It now sells air defence command and control systems, cyber security services, avionics maintenance for Finland's F-35 fleet, attack drones and electrical automation for pulp mills, organised into two divisions called Insta Industry and Insta Advance. Net sales reached 197.8 million euros in 2025 on 868 employees, with a record order backlog of 94 million, EBIT of 14.6 million and customers in more than fifty countries.

The defence and aviation business dates to 1973, when it was a workshop repairing aircraft gauges. It employs more than 400 people on its own now. Insta AirC2 is the flagship, a Link 16 native air and air defence command and control product sold at command centre, field and mobile levels, distributing a common operational picture across nodes with a simulation based training system built in. Around it sit the pieces that move classified data: Insta DomainLink Secret for cross domain exchange to NATO standards, and the patented Insta SafeLink Secret encryption device. Insta Steel Eagle ER is an extended range one way attack drone with a patented explosive charge. Older work still in service includes active noise reduction headsets for Gripen fighters flown by Sweden and Brazil, and the IPBAM pilot breathing air monitor supplied to the Austrian air force. Insta Blue Aware puts a shared situational picture in front of civil authorities and event organisers.

Sustainment is the quiet earner. The Finnish Defence Forces Logistics Command buys F-35 avionics maintenance and repair from Insta, which is also responsible for integrating the aircraft's systems with Finnish command and control networks. Insta joined the ICEYE led consortium alongside Huld, DA-Group, the Finnish Meteorological Institute and Lockheed Martin to develop intelligence and reconnaissance capability around that programme. Unmanned aviation training and pilot safety solutions sit in the same unit.

Cyber security is the fastest growing line, sold as consulting, network security, secure digital identity and cyber defence services to critical infrastructure operators as well as the armed forces, and delivered entirely from Finland, which matters to customers working under national classification rules. Insta has been at that trade for over thirty years. Software consulting is a separate business selling development capacity to commercial and public sector clients. Insta Industry remains the original trade, delivering electrification, automation, instrumentation and digitalisation as turnkey projects for energy, water, marine, forestry, food, chemical and metals customers, with cabinet manufacturing, installation, crane modernisation and lifecycle maintenance around it. The Insta Wahti maintenance management and network monitoring software is that division's own product.
