Karman sells the parts of a missile or launch vehicle that almost nobody outside the industry can name. Payload fairings. Interstage structures. Solid rocket motor cases and nozzles. Ordnance that separates one stage from the next at exactly the right instant. The company was assembled rather than founded, when Dallas private equity firm Trive Capital combined AMRO Fabricating, Aerospace Engineering LLC and American Automated Engineering into a single platform, then added Systima Technologies in 2021 to bring energetics and high temperature composites in-house, with TMX Engineering and Rapid Machine Solutions following. The underlying businesses have between them more than forty years of flight history. Karman went public on the New York Stock Exchange in February 2025 under the ticker KRMN, raising $506 million at $22 a share, and it now runs roughly 1,100 staff across nine facilities and more than 700,000 square feet in California, Oregon, Washington and Alabama, with Huntington Beach as the corporate base.

The product families are three. Payload protection and deployment covers the entire top section of a booster, launch vehicle or missile, meaning fairings, shrouds, encapsulation and the low shock mechanisms that release a payload without damaging it. Aerodynamic interstage systems are the metallic and composite structures that carry loads between stages and then separate cleanly, which is where the ordnance work matters. Propulsion covers integrated solid rocket motor assemblies, cases, nozzles, ablative composites and launcher hardware. AMRO's particular specialty is precision machined and formed isogrid and orthogrid panels, the milled aluminium skins that give a large tank or fairing its stiffness without the weight.

The end markets split close to evenly. Hypersonics and strategic missile defense accounted for around 36 percent of revenue at the time of the IPO filing, integrated defense systems for 31 percent, and space and launch for 34 percent, spread across more than a hundred active programs with none of them above ten percent of sales. That mix is deliberate, and it is the reason the company survived the lumpy ordering patterns that have killed narrower suppliers. Maritime defense has since been added as a named market, with a $21.3 million Northrop Grumman award in July 2026 for MK 54 torpedo fleet exercise sections. The Department of Defense has also put money into capacity, awarding Systima $5 million in January 2026 to expand solid rocket motor nozzle production, one of the choke points in the American munitions industrial base. Revenue reached $472 million in fiscal 2025 with net income of $17.4 million. Engineering is the constraint rather than floor space, and Karman keeps roughly 180 multi-discipline engineers in-house so that it can take work from concept through qualification rather than only building to someone else's drawing. That is the difference between a machine shop and a subsystem supplier, and it is what lets the company price on design content instead of hours.
