Kitron ASA

Nordic electronics manufacturing for defence, medical, industry, power and connectivity.

//Overview

Kitron builds electronics for other people's products. The Norwegian group, headquartered at Asker outside Oslo and listed on Oslo Bors under the ticker KIT, is one of the larger electronics manufacturing services companies in Europe, running surface mount and through hole assembly, box build, cable work, testing and after market repair for customers who design a product and then hand the making of it to someone else. Around 3,400 full time equivalents worked for the group by the middle of 2026, spread across plants and sourcing offices in Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Lithuania, Poland, the Czech Republic, Germany, India, China, Malaysia and the United States. BB Electronics of Denmark joined in 2022, and the Swedish electronics and electrical systems house DeltaNordic closed in early 2026 at an enterprise value near 114 million euro, with roughly half of its revenue coming from defence customers.

Five market sectors carry the business, and Kitron names them plainly on its own site. Connectivity covers industrial internet of things hardware, sensors, and mobile and optical networking equipment. Electrification takes in battery technology, power management, power supplies and transmission gear for customers working on the move away from combustion. The Industry sector holds automation, transportation, recycling, infrastructure and oil and gas electronics. Medical devices is the oldest of the regulated lines, built on FDA registration and ISO 13485 certification, and it reaches into diagnostics, life support, hospital equipment and point of care instruments. Defence and aerospace is the fifth, and it has swallowed the rest. In the second quarter of 2026 that sector alone brought in 154 million euro against 46 million a year earlier, half of group revenue, and it held 60 percent of the order backlog.

The defence work is Norwegian in origin and has run for close to forty years. Kongsberg Defence and Aerospace is the anchor customer. Kitron's Arendal plant made the communications electronics for the NASAMS air defence system that Kongsberg supplied to Oman under a 2014 subcontract worth 80.7 million Norwegian kroner. In 2022 the two firms signed a long term production agreement covering the electronic modules inside Kongsberg remotely operated weapon stations, tied to the US Army CROWS framework and put at around 750 million kroner, with the work split between Norway and Kitron's American plant. The company describes the rest of its defence output as tactical communications, avionics and combat aircraft electronics, surveillance and control systems, training equipment, intercoms for air and land platforms, and electronics for unmanned vehicles. Sites carry AS9100 and AQAP certification alongside ISO 27001 and ISO 14001.

The constraint now is capacity. Kitron opened a 7,500 square metre plant at Longum outside Arendal in August 2026 to take Norwegian defence volume, and it lifted its full year outlook after first half revenue reached 568 million euro, up 69 percent year on year. The service catalogue underneath all of this is plain and wide: product development and re engineering, industrialisation and prototype runs, global sourcing through offices on three continents, repair and refurbishment, obsolete component replacement, and taking over a customer's own factory when that customer would rather stop running one.
