Meprolight (1990) Ltd.
Reflex and magnified optics, tritium sights and thermal weapon sights.
Meprolight was set up in 1990 in Or Akiva to supply sighting systems to the Israel Defense Forces, and it still frames itself that way even though a large share of its volume now goes to law enforcement and civilian customers abroad. It is a division of the SK Group, alongside IWI, Camero-Tech and Israel Shipyards, which puts an optics house and a rifle maker under one owner. The technical work splits four ways: an optics division for optical and electro-optical sights, a tritium division for self-illuminated products, a thermal division for uncooled weapon sights, and an LED division for signalling and marking devices.
Magnified optics is the newest push, built around the MVO 1-8x28 and MVO 3-18x44 first focal plane scopes using German SCHOTT glass and MRAD reticles. Rifle optics is the deepest line. The M21 reflex sight, powered by fibre optics and tritium so it needs no batteries at all, became the product most associated with the company, and the M22 and M22 PRO are its successors. Around them sit the MCO PRO closed emitter carbine optic, the MOR PRO reflex sight with an integrated laser and infrared pointer, the RDS PRO V2, the short TRU-VISION SR red dot, the MMX3 and MMX4 magnifiers, and the GLS and STING sights. The X6 fixed six power daytime sight was selected by the Indian Army as the dedicated optic for its in-service NEGEV machine guns, a contract that came with a technology transfer agreement.
Pistol optics run through the MPO family in open and closed emitter forms on RMR and RMSc footprints, with dedicated plates extending the same optics to shotguns. Handgun sights are the tritium business at scale, covering the TRU-DOT fixed and adjustable ranges, the TRU-DOT R4E and suppressor height versions, the HYPER-BRIGHT and its V-Sight variant, the FT Bullseye rear and front sights and the CRIS backup irons, catalogued by pistol brand for most major manufacturers. Rifle and shotgun iron sights include the CABS, FABS, FUBS and FRBS backup sets and TRU-DOT fixed sights. Night vision and thermal sit at the military end of the range, where the NYX dual channel thermal weapon sight pairs a 640 by 480 uncooled sensor working in the 8 to 12 micron band with a secondary low light camera. Accessories fill in risers, mounts, polarisers, flash guards and light modules. Everything is built to ISO 9001 and to NATO and United States military specifications, the company holds ISO 14001 as well, and it claims a defect rate under one percent across its round-the-clock sights and electro-optics. Customers named by the company run from the Israeli military to police forces and weapon manufacturers across Europe, Asia and the Americas, and a good deal of the tritium output leaves the plant as a factory-fitted option on somebody else's pistol rather than under the Meprolight brand. Distribution runs through dealers, with a separate American storefront and warranty operation.
