Orbit Communication Systems sits in Netanya and builds the hardware that keeps a moving platform connected to a satellite. The engineering problem is mechanical as much as it is radio frequency. A terminal on a frigate in a swell, a Gulfstream in turbulence or an armoured vehicle on a broken track has to hold a beam on a spacecraft to a fraction of a degree while the mount underneath it pitches, and Orbit has been refining stabilised pedestals for that job for decades. The company splits its catalogue into a commercial side and a government side, with the same core technology serving both.
On the government air side the Multi-Purpose Terminal family is the visible product. MPT 30 Ku packs a 30 centimetre aperture into a housing small enough for mission aircraft, helicopters and unmanned platforms, and the MPT30Ka deployable variant was pitched at ground forces and special operations teams who need a satellite link standing up in minutes rather than hours. The same terminals have been shown on unmanned surface vessels, small craft and armoured vehicles, which is where the naval and land programmes overlap. Maritime work runs through the OceanTRx line, with OceanTRx 4 Mil carrying the military features that navies ask for on top of the commercial platform. Land segment products cover line of sight links, land mobile terminals and position tracking, while the commercial side of the same catalogue sells into business aviation cabins, cruise ship connectivity and offshore oil and gas platforms.
Ground stations are a separate and long-running business. The Gaia series serves earth observation operators tracking low and medium orbit satellites, with high capacity configurations built around antennas in the 5.5 to 7.3 metre class, and Orbit has taken repeat orders from the same customers, which in ground segment work says more than any specification sheet. Telemetry and tracking stations come from the same group, built for launch ranges, missile test programmes and any customer who has to keep a precision antenna locked on something moving fast and far away. The third leg is airborne audio, a business most observers would not expect to find alongside satellite terminals. Orbit supplies audio management systems for cockpits and mission compartments on fighters, trainers, helicopters and special mission aircraft, and has pushed the line towards spatial 3D audio, where separating radio nets by apparent direction reduces the load on a crew handling many channels at once. Current development runs to electronically steerable antennas and compact tactical satcom for the emerging proliferated low orbit constellations. Ownership changed in 2026. Kratos Defense and Security Solutions agreed in November 2025 to buy the parent Orbit Technologies for about 356 million dollars in cash, cleared the Israeli national security review, and closed the deal in March 2026, folding Orbit into the Kratos Microwave Electronics Division while the shares came off the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange. The commercial and government catalogues carried on unchanged through the transfer.
