Quantum Systems was set up in Gilching, west of Munich, in 2015, and for its first years it sold electric vertical takeoff aircraft mostly to surveyors and mapping firms. The Trinity F90+ was the product that made the name, a small fixed wing aircraft that lifts off on rotors and then transitions to wing borne flight for up to ninety minutes of survey work. Defence came afterwards and then took over. Ukraine became a heavy user of the Vector, the tactical version of the same layout, and the feedback loop from that fighting shaped what the company built next. By late 2025 an 180 million euro round put the valuation near 3 billion euros, and in December of that year the German procurement agency signed for the Twister as successor to the ageing ALADIN hand launched reconnaissance drone, an initial 147 systems worth about 16 million euros with a framework covering up to 747 systems and a further 85 million.

The air line now runs from short range up. Twister sits at the small tactical end, Vector AI covers mid range intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance work, and Reliant is the long endurance aircraft, built to act as a mothership carrying and releasing smaller effects. Trinity Pro and Trinity Tactical keep the survey and mapping heritage alive. Payloads are swapped rather than fixed, and the company qualifies third party sensors across electro-optical, infrared and lidar types so a single airframe can serve several missions.

What distinguishes the firm from the many European drone startups is the deliberate spread into other domains, all tied together by software. MOSAIC UXS is the command and control platform, a single interface for planning and running mixed fleets, and it is what the Bundeswehr will use to make Twister interoperate with its existing FALKE systems. The land side arrived in February 2026 with Mandrill, a modular high mobility uncrewed ground vehicle that can be configured for reconnaissance, resupply, casualty evacuation, electronic warfare payloads or towing, with a separate ground autonomy kit that retrofits the same stack onto other vehicles. Maritime followed in September 2026, when Seavex, a long endurance uncrewed surface vessel carrying surveillance radar, counter drone radar and electro-optical sensors with onboard processing, was shown alongside Subvex for underwater work. Counter drone sits on the roadmap under the STRILA name, using the radar and sensor work already built for the maritime vessels. Manufacturing has grown to match, with production in Germany, operations supporting Ukraine, and an American research and development expansion announced for Huntsville, Alabama in August 2026. The company also keeps a sensor catalogue qualified against its airframes, covering Sony, Phase One and specialist infrared and oblique imaging payloads, so a customer buying an aircraft can specify the camera fit at the same time rather than running a separate integration project. Support services follow the hardware, with operator training, spares and repair pipelines built for units that fly these things daily rather than occasionally. The pitch to defence ministries is a single autonomy layer across air, land and sea rather than a shelf of unrelated vehicles.
