Steadicopter has spent twenty years on a question most of the unmanned industry answered differently. Fixed wing drones fly further for the fuel they burn, and multirotors are cheap and simple, so the unmanned helicopter has been squeezed from both sides. Steadicopter, founded in 2005 and based in Migdal HaEmek in the Galilee, kept building rotary systems because a single main rotor does things neither of the alternatives manages: it hovers with real endurance, it lands on a pitching deck without a net or an arrestor, and it carries a useful load relative to its own weight. The company employs a few dozen people and has built its reputation on the Black Eagle 50, a 50 kilogram maximum take-off weight aircraft with about 30 kilograms of useful load once payload and batteries are counted.

Black Eagle 50E is the all-electric version, quiet enough for covert work and good for around two hours aloft. The Israeli Navy selected it in 2022 for coastal security and maritime surveillance, operating it off small vessels where a fixed wing aircraft would need recovery equipment the boat does not have. Black Eagle 50H answered the endurance complaint with a hybrid powertrain, combining a combustion generator with electric drive to carry up to twelve kilograms of payload for far longer than batteries allow, and the company presented it as the first unmanned hybrid helicopter of its type. The aircraft carry electro-optic and infrared payloads, maritime radar and AIS receivers, and the AIS fit matters for the coastguard role because it lets an operator correlate a radar track with a declared identity and pick out the vessel that is not broadcasting.

Golden Eagle is the armed and larger-mission branch. Golden Eagle HS, shown at AUSA in 2024, carries Rafael Spike missiles, the short range Spike SR at about two and a half kilometres and the Spike LR2 out past five kilometres with a multi-effect warhead, on a 50 kilogram airframe, which puts precision anti-armour fire in the hands of a unit that could not previously call for it. In May 2026 Steadicopter disclosed the Golden Eagle mothership concept, a long range rotary carrier that flies out, releases smaller reconnaissance drones or precision effectors deep into a defended area, and stays back at standoff. United States expansion has been the recent effort. The Black Eagle 50E completed airworthiness validation through the Nevada Unmanned Aircraft Systems Test Site in September 2026, a step toward wider American operations. Beyond defence, the same airframes are sold into commercial and civil work: border monitoring, infrastructure security, convoy and force protection, disaster management, search and rescue, law enforcement and photogrammetric mapping, where an operator wants a survey product rather than a live feed. Steadicopter sells complete systems, the aircraft with its ground control station, datalinks and payload set, rather than airframes to be integrated by somebody else, which suits the small and medium customers who have no systems house of their own to do that work. The company remains privately held.
