Threod Systems has been building unmanned aircraft at Viimsi, on the coast road out of Tallinn, since 2012. What separates it from the many European drone startups founded since 2022 is how much of the system it owns. The airframes are designed in house, so are the gyro stabilised camera turrets that hang under them, and so are the pneumatic launchers that throw them into the air, which means a customer can buy the whole tactical surveillance chain from one supplier and one logistics tail. Around 200 people work there. Sales reached 38 million euros in 2024, an 87 percent rise on the previous year, and the growth came from the obvious places, Ukraine above all, where Threod aircraft fly reconnaissance sorties that the company counts in thousands of combat hours, and from NATO members rebuilding tactical ISR inventories they had let run down. The company says its systems are fielded in 32 countries, 18 of them NATO members. In July 2025 the shareholders engaged advisers to test buyer interest, and European primes and private equity funds were reported to be looking, though no transaction had been announced by September 2026.
The Eos family carries the unmanned aircraft business. Eos C is a carbon composite fixed wing aircraft with four lift rotors for vertical takeoff and landing, transitioning in flight to wing borne cruise, which lets an infantry unit launch from a clearing without a runway or a catapult crew. Endurance runs past two and a half hours. Eos D followed at Eurosatory 2026, a heavier 15.5 kilogram airframe carrying a 2 kilogram payload for up to three hours, working out to 50 kilometres of datalink range and 4,500 metres of altitude. Paired with the eOpic-6 ISTAR payload it adds laser designation, tested against a range of NATO guided projectiles, which moves the aircraft from watching a target to handing it to a gun or a guided round. Earlier Threod designs, the Stream C fixed wing and the Titan heavy lift multirotor, established the company in the NATO Class I bracket before the current line replaced them.
Electro optics is a business in its own right and sells beyond Threod's own aircraft. The eOpic series of lightweight gyro stabilised gimbals spans several sensor packages, from daylight full HD imaging up to cooled mid wave infrared turrets able to pick out vehicles well beyond ten kilometres, with the stabilisation and target tracking that makes long range imagery usable rather than merely available. The third segment is launchers. The Cata series uses compressed air rather than bungee or rocket assist to put aircraft off the rail, and Threod pitches it for one way effectors and target drones as much as for its own reconnaissance platforms. Around all three sits the ground segment, control stations built into containers, vans or handheld units, data terminals reaching out to long ranges, and remote video terminals that push the feed to a soldier who is nowhere near the operator.
