V2X came together in 2022 when Vectrus and Vertex combined, merging Vectrus's fixed-price base operations and logistics contracts with Vertex's aviation and aerospace sustainment work, the legacy business that used to sit inside L3Harris. On the aerospace side, V2X performs aircraft maintenance, modification, and sustainment across a wide range of platforms, including a recent $103 million Navy award to support the C-26 aircraft fleet's engineering, upgrades, and maintenance. The company also won a large, multi-billion-dollar Air Force award for the T-6 Texan II training aircraft maintenance program, and separately handles F-16 cockpit modernization work. Training is a distinct line of business, covering live, virtual, and constructive training support for military units preparing for deployment. The technology piece has grown alongside the rest, adding cyber and IT solutions, AI and data readiness work, and advanced engineering services that increasingly sit alongside the company's traditional logistics and maintenance bread and butter, including support for Navy fleet communications and Space Force tracking station operations. V2X trades on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker VVX and is headquartered in Reston, Virginia, with a major operational hub in Colorado Springs, Colorado, a legacy of the original Vectrus organization that itself spun off from Exelis in 2014.

The company employs roughly 11,000 to 16,000 people worldwide depending on how contractor staffing is counted, working across dozens of countries wherever US and allied forces need someone to keep the lights on, the trucks moving, and the aircraft airworthy. It is one of a small handful of companies, alongside names like Fluor, KBR, and Amentum, that specialize in this unglamorous but essential category of sustainment work that keeps deployed military operations functioning day to day. The company's contract base skews heavily toward multi-year, indefinite-delivery vehicles rather than one-off awards, which gives V2X a revenue base that is comparatively stable but also ties its fortunes closely to the pace and duration of US military deployments, base footprints, and equipment prepositioning strategy overseas.
