VINCORION sells the unglamorous middle of a defence platform. Not the gun and not the hull, but the generator that feeds a radar, the drive that holds a gun steady over rough ground, and the winch that lifts a casualty into a helicopter. The company was the defence and civil systems arm of Jenoptik in Wedel, north of Hamburg, and carries about seventy years of engineering history from that lineage. Jenoptik sold it to the British investor STAR Capital in a deal agreed in late 2021 and closed in June 2022, and the new owners renamed and rebuilt it. In March 2026 it went public, listing on the Prime Standard of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange at seventeen euros a share, and by June it had entered the SDAX. STAR retained just under half the shares. Around a thousand people work across four sites, three in Germany and one in the United States, and the company runs a sizeable apprenticeship intake.

The business reports in three parts. Vehicle Systems covers energy supply and stabilisation for armoured platforms. Generators and auxiliary power units keep sensors and electronics running with the main engine off, and electromechanical turret drives and stabilisation systems hold weapon aim while the vehicle moves, work the company has supplied into Leopard and other main battle tank programmes for decades. Power Systems is the ground based air defence business and the one that has grown fastest. Hybrid power units combining diesel generation with battery storage feed launchers and radars on systems including IRIS-T and Patriot, cutting fuel burn and letting a battery sit silent on battery power during quiet periods, which matters when a running generator is an infrared and acoustic beacon.

Aviation is the third segment and the most visible to people outside defence. VINCORION builds electric rescue hoists for helicopters, both military and civil. The ERH premier lifts up to around 303 kilograms, enough for three fully equipped people at a metre a second, and the SkyHoist 800 serves the civil search and rescue market. The same division supplies heating systems for aircraft and helicopters, actuation and special mechatronic assemblies, and the maintenance and overhaul work that follows hoists through decades of service. Rail and transport applications sit alongside the aviation work, using the same power electronics and drive competences. The common engineering problem across all three segments is the same one: safety critical mechatronics that must work at the temperature extremes, vibration levels and duty cycles that military and rescue operations impose, and that must be repairable in the field rather than returned to a factory. Maintenance and overhaul is a business in its own right here. A rescue hoist is a life safety item with mandated inspection intervals, and the revenue from keeping fleets of them certified runs for as long as the helicopters fly. The IPO prospectus made the case that this mix, long lived installed base plus air defence demand that has jumped since 2022, gives the company a steadier earnings profile than a pure platform supplier, and the SDAX entry three months after listing suggests investors took the argument seriously.
